Medición de Alimentación Emocional: Una Revisión Sistemática según los criterios PRISMA

Measurement of Emotional Eating: A Systematic Review according to PRISMA criteria
Publicado
2025-01-03

Emotional Eating (AE) is primarily identified through self-report instruments. However, no gold standard for assessing it makes it difficult to know which scale to use. The objective of this article was to identify the measurement instruments that have been used to evaluate AE in adults and their psychometric properties. A systematic review followed the PRISMA guidelines in Scopus, Pubmed, PsyInfo, Web of Science, Cochrane, Science Direct, and Redalyc databases. The results show 12 instruments to measure this variable at the national and international levels and two scales validated for the Mexican population. More studies are needed to provide evidence of construct validity. The diversity of conceptual approaches reflected in the different instruments for measuring the AE underlines the complexity of the construct. The relevance of selecting the appropriate instrument based on the study’s specific objectives and the target population is highlighted, considering aspects such as the construct’s definition, the evaluation’s exhaustiveness, and the related dimensions.
