Effects of workplace psychological violence on the mental health of Latin American women workers. A systematic review

La violencia psicológica laboral afecta desproporcionadamente a mujeres trabajadoras en América Latina, generando consecuencias graves para su salud mental. El estudio tiene como objetivo examinar los efectos de la violencia psicológica laboral en la salud mental de mujeres trabajadoras latinoamericanas mediante revisión sistemática. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo, tipo revisión sistemática, consultando las bases de datos PubMed, Scopus, SciELO y Redalyc (2015-2025), incluyendo 9 estudios según protocolo PRISMA-ScR. Los resultados indican que la violencia psicológica laboral constituye un fenómeno estructural que genera depresión, ansiedad, burnout y síntomas somáticos. Los factores psicosociales incluyen dinámicas de poder, discriminación de género y culturas organizacionales patriarcales. Las intervenciones organizacionales son más efectivas que las individuales. Para concluir, se requieren cambios estructurales en políticas laborales y culturas organizacionales para proteger la salud mental de mujeres trabajadoras. 

Workplace psychological violence disproportionately affects working women in Latin America, generating serious consequences for their mental health. This study aims to examine the effects of workplace psychological violence on the mental health of Latin American working women through a systematic review. A qualitative, systematic review was conducted, consulting the PubMed, Scopus, SciELO, and Redalyc databases (2015-2025), including 9 studies according to the PRISMA-ScR protocol. The results indicate that workplace psychological violence constitutes a structural phenomenon that generates depression, anxiety, burnout, and somatic symptoms. Psychosocial factors include power dynamics, gender discrimination, and patriarchal organizational cultures. Organizational interventions are more effective than individual ones. In conclusion, structural changes in labor policies and organizational cultures are required to protect the mental health of working women.
